How to Fix the ‘QuickBooks Found Some Problems with Your Company Files’ Error

To resolve the problem, take the following steps:

Step 1: Examine the Data

First, check to see if your company file has any data damage. To find out, run the ‘Verify’ utility by performing the following steps:

  • Click File from the main menu in QuickBooks Desktop, then select Utilities.
  • Click the Verify Data button.
  • If the Verify utility discovers a problem with the data in your company file, attempt to rebuild it. Refer to this link for more information on verifying and reconstructing data within a QuickBooks® company file.

If rebuilding the data is ineffective, move on to the next step.

Step 2: Navigate to the QBWin.log file.

Each QB version includes a log file that assists in determining the cause of specific errors in a company file. The file is known as QBWin.log in Windows. Look through the file to see what caused the error. ‘QuickBooks discovered a problem with your company file.’

Follow these steps to locate the QBWin.log file:

  • Press F2 in your QuickBooks Desktop program to bring up the QB Product Information Screen.
  • Then, press F3 to bring up the Tech Help screen, and then select the Open File tab.
  • Open the file by right-clicking on QBWin.log. If there are any issues with the data, they will be listed at the end of the file after the “Begin Verify” line.

Step 3: Repair data damage with the File Doctor Tool.

  • Select the problematic company file from the drop-down menu on the ‘QuickBooks File Doctor’ screen. Browse or search your file if you can’t see it.
  • Select the company file and press Continue.
  • Type in your QB admin password and then click Next.
